2018 BAFTA Film Awards Odds

The British Academy Film Awards, aka BAFTA is one of the biggest events in the film industry, and definitely the most important and most popular such event in Britain. Considered a British equivalent of the Oscars, BAFTA attracts a large number of viewers and it is one of the most popular non-sports betting events among punters.

Almost all reliable bookmakers offer BAFTA betting and you can bet on the winner of numerous respective categories that are featured in BAFTA. The betting options become available long before the ceremony is held, even though the odds may change over time, depending on the available information.

The BAFTA ceremony this year (2018), will take place on the 18th of February in the Royal Albert Hall and bookmakers are already offering outright betting odds for some of the award categories, whereas other categories will be added as the event date approaches.

SportNation

SportNation currently offers odds for five BAFTA categories – Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best British Film and Best Director. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, directed by Martin McDonagh is currently the first favourite and the odds for it to be named the best film are 4/5. The Shape of Water is right behind at odds 16/5 and Dunkirk closely follows (15/4). The odds for the Darkest Hour and Call me by Your Name are tied at 11/1.

Gary Oldman who plays the star role in the Darkest Hour is the favourite for the Best Actor award at odds 2/15, followed by Daniel Day-Lewis (Phantom Thread) and Timothee Chalamet (Call me by Your Name) tied at odds 9/1. The odds for Daniel Kaluuya and Jamie Bell are significantly lower, 18/1 and 20/1, respectively.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is the obvious favourite for the top British Film at odds of just 1/6 and not surprisingly, F. McDormand who plays the lead female role is the first favourite for the Best Actress award (1/2). Nolan is most likely to be named Best Director for his Dunkirk and the odds for this bet are 2/3, whereas Guillermo del Toro for The Shape of Water is at 13/10.

RealDealBet offers the same five categories as SportNation, but the odds are slightly different. The odds for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri to be named Best Film are somewhat lower at 10/13 and the odds for The Shape of Water are also lower at 3/1. The odds for Dunkirk are also lower, but the odds for the two least favourite films out of the chosen 5 are higher (21/2).

The odds for Gary Oldman to be named Best Actor are just the same as the odds offered by SportNation, whereas the odds for the remaining actors are similar. The odds for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri to receive the Best British Film award are 4/25, almost the same as the odds offered by SportNation. The odds for the Darkest Hour and the Death of Stalin are lower than the odds offered by SportNation.

Generally, the odds offered by RealDealBet are somewhat lower than the odds offered by SportNation, although there are certain exceptions.

Betser

If you compare the Best Film odds offered by Betser with the odds offered by SportNation, you’ll notice that they are almost identical. The obvious favourite, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is offered at 4/5 odds, whereas the odds for The Shape of Water are only slightly lower, as are the odds for Dunkirk.

Then if you check the Best Actor odds, you will notice the same pattern. Betfinal

Betfinal is also a great option if you intend to place a bet on the BAFTA. We checked the odds and the categories and the number of featured categories matches the ones that are offered by the three operators listed above. When it comes to the odds, they are identical with the odds offered by SportNation, which means that they are quite favourable.

The odds are literally the same, including both the favourites in each category, as well as the odds for the participant that is least likely to win. For example, the odds for Denis Villeneuve to be named Best Director for his Blade Runner 2049 are 50/1 as are the odds for Annette Bening to be crowned as Best Actress for her role in Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool. And the same odds are offered by SportNation.

Conclusion

The odds offered by these two operators are more favourable than the odds offered by the two other operators, generally speaking, but if you’re looking into particular selections, there are certain exceptions.
